Chicopee: Chicopee Public Library

Founded in 1853, the Chicopee Public Library serves its constituents from two branches as well as a bookmobile that makes weekly stops around the city. The Library started its collection from a donation of 900 books from the Cabot Institute, a local literary and social club, and became the first library in Western Massachusetts to be funded by public tax dollars. With a special attention to lifelong learning, the library serves a changing population which includes seniors and newcomers in need of ESOL classes.
